Binance Alpha Lists Canopy Token With Airdrop for Eligible Users

by Melanie Peters

Binance Alpha will list Canopy (CNPY) on September 7, 2026, and open an airdrop for eligible users via the Alpha Events page, according to a Binance announcement. This move comes as CNPY begins trading on several other exchanges, ushering the token of the AI-focused on-chain infrastructure project into its initial price discovery phase.

Binance Alpha Opens CNPY Claim

According to Binance, Binance Alpha will open Canopy (CNPY) trading at 12:00 UTC on September 7, 2026. This is the first platform to introduce CNPY, with the claim event deployed directly on the Alpha Events page.

Users with at least 235 Binance Alpha Points can claim 180 CNPY. The program is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning that holding enough points does not automatically guarantee that a user will receive the tokens if the reward pool runs out before they complete their claim.

If the reward pool is not fully distributed, the required point threshold will decrease by 5 points every 5 minutes until the program ends or the pool is exhausted, according to the announcement.

Each claim will cost 15 Alpha Points. Users must confirm the claim within 24 hours on the Alpha Events page; failing to complete this step within the specified timeframe will result in the forfeiture of the airdrop rights.

Canopy Enters Wider Exchange Rollout

The claim opening on Binance Alpha takes place alongside the rollout of CNPY across several other trading markets, pushing the token into a broader price discovery phase following its launch.

Bitget announced the opening of CNPYUSDT spot trading at 12:00 UTC on September 7, 2026. Gate also scheduled spot trading for the same pair at the same time, while withdrawals for CNPY on both exchanges are expected to open on September 8, 2026.

In the derivatives segment, MEXC announced the launch of CNPYUSDT futures contracts at 12:10 UTC on September 7, 2026, with leverage ranging from 1x to 20x. The launch of both spot and futures trading within a tight timeframe makes CNPY’s initial trading sessions particularly notable, especially as the token lacks extensive public price data for market reference.

These trading schedules help place the claim on Binance Alpha into the context of CNPY’s broader launch day, rather than viewing it merely as an internal token distribution program. This development adds market context to the Binance Alpha claim as the token enters its first day of trading.

Canopy’s AI-Native Blockchain Pitch

Canopy is a blockchain infrastructure project focused on bringing AI into the on-chain application development process. Canopy is described as a framework that can integrate with coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex to help developers deploy blockchain applications faster.

Self-reported figures on the Canopy website include 350,000 users, 25,000 developers, and 7 billion CNPY in testnet volume. The mainnet is still displayed as “coming soon,” placing the opening of CNPY trading in a phase prior to the main network becoming fully operational.

Canopy previously announced an $8.5 million seed round with participation from Arrington Capital, Fenbushi Capital, Borderless Capital, SNZ Capital, and several other investors. Capital from this round will be used for mainnet development, engineering recruitment, and expanding its suite of AI-native tools.

CNPY is the native token of the Canopy ecosystem, designed for transaction fees and staking. The project’s tokenomics outline an expected total supply of 504 million CNPY, an initial block reward of 80 CNPY, and a block creation time of approximately 20 seconds.

In listing announcements, CNPY is identified as a BEP20 token with the contract address 0xC69B16CF18CEA1e5D0bb6a1a9db802097790dDD2.

What Remains Unclear

CNPY is appearing on Binance Alpha, the area Binance uses for early-stage tokens, but current announcements have not mentioned plans to list this token on the official Spot market.

While Canopy has published its block reward emission model and expected total supply, key metrics typically monitored by the market during a TGE, such as initial circulating supply, unlock schedules, allocations for the team, investors, and community, and the total reward pool dedicated to Binance Alpha, have not yet appeared in listing announcements.

Because CNPY begins trading on the same day, with spot and futures open across multiple platforms, post-listing metrics such as opening price, 24-hour trading volume, circulating market cap, and FDV will be key data points to track when assessing initial market reaction.
