Stellar’s Web3 Bootcamp Brought More Than 100 Developers to PH Blockchain Week

by Jack Davies

Web3 education platform Rise In and Stellar Philippines hosted the “Build on Stellar” initiative at the Philippine Blockchain Week 2026 from June 20 to 21 at the SMX Convention Center, drawing 127 registered participants. The two-day event focused on transitioning local developers from theoretical blockchain concepts to product development on the Stellar network and Soroban smart contract platform.

The initiative drew 61 attendees on its first day and 62 on its second day, according to data provided by the organizers. The event served as a pipeline for talent development following the conclusion of the “Build the Future of Finance” hackathon held in Manila last May, which resulted in 28 applications deployed onto the Stellar Mainnet.

Technical Training and Institutional Integration

During the event’s Builder’s Day:

  • Armielyn Obinguar, developer relations and technical lead for Rise In and Stellar Philippines, led a hands-on technical bootcamp covering development environment setup, tooling, and on-chain application deployment.
  • Jason Lopez, B2B product team lead at the Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX), presented a showcase on PDAX’s API capabilities. The session demonstrated how developers can integrate digital asset infrastructure with existing financial systems to support payment and fintech use cases.

The integration of these applications follows existing infrastructure within the domestic digital asset market. Philippine-licensed entities such as Coins.ph, alongside global trading platforms like Bybit, already maintain active integration pipelines for asset transfers and liquidity settlement utilizing the Stellar network.

Project Showcases and Community Milestones

The event featured presentations from five winning teams of the previous “Build the Future of Finance” hackathon, including low-connectivity payment application AbotPera, AI-assisted development tool PinkRaft, MSME liquidity engine Axial, remittance platform Sobre, and agricultural credit prototype TyFi.

Organizers reported that 31 participants officially enrolled in the “Build on Stellar Journey to Mastery” program to continue technical training post-conference. Additionally, a project pitching competition on the second day featured 12 early-stage ideas presented before ecosystem mentors.

Ecosystem Panels and Regional Hackathon Pipeline

The second day, designated as Ecosystem Day, hosted three panel discussions featuring local industry figures, including Patrick Lao, Tzar C. Umang, Coach Miranda, Regine Rivera, Vincent Tio, Alden Yburan, and Richard Stangland.

  • The panels focused on developer community growth, financial innovation, and enterprise partnerships.
  • On the main stage, Stellar Philippines Country Lead Nelson Lumbres joined a panel discussing user experience and decentralization in Web3 development.

According to the organizers, participating builders are transitioning to the Asia-Pacific (APAC) Stellar Hackathon, a regional developer competition open for submissions until July 15, 2026. The regional tournament features a prize pool of up to $60,000 and will include an in-person Demo Day at the GCash office on July 18, 2026, before concluding with a grand finale on July 24, 2026.
